The "Energy-Efficient" Performer

Unlike its electromagnetic counterpart, the piezoelectric buzzer relies on the piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics. Its core is a piezoelectric buzzer element, composed of a piezoelectric ceramic plate bonded to a metal plate. When an alternating voltage is applied, the ceramic expands and contracts in the planar direction while the metal plate does not. This differential movement causes the entire element to bend and vibrate, generating sound waves.

The significant advantages of piezoelectric buzzers are their ultra-low power consumption, compact size, and high sound pressure level capability. They are also categorized into active (with built-in driving circuit) and passive (requiring external signal) types. They are ideally suited for portable devices, watches, medical electronics, and other products where power consumption and space are critical constraints.
